If anyone out there knows about my history in the publishing business, you know it’s a subject that I don’t often talk about in my blog. I admit at times I’ll even avoid it
As a freelance writer that interviews a lot of writers, artists, and celebrities I get a lot of sample books for review.
This week I got a sample book from a self-published author who had used the services of/is represented by AuthorHouse.
It's not like I should be surprised at all.
Now that I've shifted from focusing solely on writing and am taking on a side job that takes some of my time, my professional career and writing is starting to gain momentum again. I'm getting all kinds of really good leads and ideas to increase exposure for my work are falling into my lap.
I think this may be a sign. I actually do better when I'm not obsessing on my professional career.
I'm such a head case.
I'm not going to complain about it, or give out all the details now because i don't want to jinx it, which also happens to me often.
If you're interested in my life/career/writing projects you'll just have to stay tuned.
Recently, I wrote an article about New York for a client. I've also been thinking about moving elseswhere to get away.
Inevitably those two things have blended together and I now find myself daydreaming about moving to Manhattan and starting a new life there.
The largest real estate company in New York is Prudential Douglas Elliman Real Estate, and they specialize in North Fork real estate, but can help with places in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Long Island, and everywhere else in the region too.
They've got a very quick and interactive website and I'm impressed with how fast it runs with the amount of graphics, and with the amount of info, features and listings found there.
If things work out over the next six months I may just be calling them, either way if anyone else out there is thinking of moving to New York, you may want to contact them and bookmark this blog entry or their web page for future reference.
I'm feeling rather "blah" no reason really, other than I think I'm just tired and run-down.
Nothing else to complain about though.
I started My new job this week. Seems okay so far.
A lot to remember.
The company has 30 voluntary eLearning courses that get you a pay bonus for each one you complete. I'm 5/8 one my first one, I'm going in early tomorrow to finish it off, the rest I have to do on my own time.
I've committed to doing at least three entries a week in this blog, but my find can't think of what to say today.
I'm tired.
So you’ve faced and made it through the quarter life crisis, now you’re grown, married, maybe have kids, now your life is stuck in a rut. The partner you once looked at longingly and dreamed of spending eternity with lashes out at you because they feel the same way, and you both harbor resentment toward each other that is ruining your once perfect life and relationship.
That scenario plays out with couples all over the world. It’s actually much more common than we think because no one wants to talk about it.
Well it's been quite a week.
Somebody, some rat bastard over in Europe tried to steal my identity!
Someone hacked into my Paypal account last week and tried to empty my bank account.
Luckily, I logged into Paypal just after the transaction was initiated.
I saw it and said. "What the $%#^?"
I was able to alert Paypal and stop the transaction. It's assumed they are based in Europe because they were trying to convert my Canadian money to Euros.
Anyway, the transaction was stopped and I was told none of my money would be taken.
Low and behold the money was taken out a couple days ago. When I called Paypal for an explanation they said that the money request at the end won't go through, the person won't be paid anything, but that the transaction was already in motion so it has ot be processed by Paypal, taken from my bank account, put into my Paypal account, before I can deposit it back into my bank account.
In the market for California event planners?
You may want to consider Innovative Entertainment for your event.
Why?
Innovative has become one of the leading event planners in the glitzy state of California by making a name for themselves by offering exemplary service and dazzling shows.
Aside form being experts in creating the experience you want for trade shows, business galas and weddings they also know how to rock the house.
Innovative puts on live musical performances with such headliners as Mariah Carey, Danni Minogue, Stevie Wonder, Faith Hill, the B52's and the Black Eyed Peas.
They also put on cultural arts events, and even comedy shows with big names like Jay Leno.
It looks like they put a lot of effort into their work and make sure that their clients get there money's worth.
The next time I get down to California for a trade show or event, I know who I'm calling to help me out.
Okay, I don't mean to sound like a kook.
I don't think I've mentioned it here before, but sometimes, some weird shit goes on in this house.
Strange noises and other things.
I'm not saying that I believe the house is haunted per se, but it is just weird.
I've decided I'm going to start chronicling some of the weird stuff here when it happens so that people know about it, and can maybe offer some ideas or explanations I may not have thought of.
Recently received this interesting piece about a conservatory up for auction and thought I'd share it
It's about A conservatory built in Maryland and because of a snafu, or local politics, it now can't be used for it's original intended use, so it's up for auction.
The idea of owning a conservatory brings to mind fantasies of hanging around in a house coat sipping drinks in a private office, hosting parties to the upper crust of society...oh doing conservatory things too. Looking at the sky I guess?
If I had the money that baby would be mine.
Since I don't have the money, because I am after all a freelance writer, I can only fantasize and leave you with this official press release. Anyone interested?:
DENTON, Md. —Jok Walsh and Michael McCrea of the Maryland based Caroline County Historical Society are still looking for someone who would like to purchase the conservatory donated to the society by Tanglewood Conservatories last year.
Jok says that the society is involved with the preservation of 23 building and historic sites in the Caroline County area and would like to use to money to create a capital projects fund.

So, most of the winter I heat by burning wood in the wood stove in our basement. But of course we started buring wood early this year and have run out.
We also have base boards, but every time we switch to those we end up with huge electricity bills.
A good solution I've found is portable and vent free heaters or space heaters.
My parents have a woodstove and baseboards too, but when they are away, or asleep, or don't have time to stoke the wood stove they use individual room heaters which work efficiently and cheaper than the electric baseboard heaters.
